Q: Are the grades listed for each program meant to be my child’s grade now or his/her grade in the fall?
A: All grades listed are for Fall 2016. Please make sure you enroll your child in the appropriate program for his/her grade.
Q: I want to sign my child up for multiple programs. Can s/he stay for the full day?
A: Yes! Choose the morning and afternoon programs you want and your child will stay for lunch. Lunch is from 11:30 am – 12:00 pm and is supervised by our staff. We will make sure that everyone makes it to their afternoon programs. Students can bring their lunch from home or choose to purchase lunch from the cafeteria.
Q: Can I drop my children off early?
A: No, we do not have an early-morning program. Please do not bring your child early; there is no supervision prior to the start of our classes.
Q: How does Extended Day work?
A: The group will meet in a designated room every day and you can pick up there. Extended Day runs until 5:30 pm. Please be prompt; there are no late pick-ups!
Q: Can my child wait in the cafeteria or library for me to pick him/her up at the end of the day?
A: No. Anyone who is here after 3:15 pm must be signed up for Extended Day.
Q: The class I’m interested in is full. What should I do?
A: Always sign up for the waitlist. It’s free and there are families who need to change their plans at the last-minute. We will contact you if a space becomes available and you can always turn down a spot when it is offered to you.
Q: I want to sign my three children up for multiple summer programs. Do you offer a sibling discount?
A: We do not offer sibling discounts.
Q: Do you offer any scholarship?
A: Scholarship is available to current or incoming Minuteman High School students for academic classes only.
Q: How do I know what room my child’s programs are in?
A: On the first day of all programs, children will meet their teachers in the cafeteria. All programs will be dismissed back to the cafeteria at the end. Please pick your child up there.
Q: I need to dismiss my child early for an appointment. Can s/he meet me at my car?
A: A parent or guardian must come in to the main office to sign their child out if the child is being dismissed early.
Q: My child needs to take an academic class, but will miss several days. Can s/he still sign up?
A: While your child can still sign up for the class, s/he will not receive a grade if more than one class is missed.
Q: Will my child receive academic credit for the class s/he is taking.
A: If your child attends for the required amount of time and completes all assignments to receive a passing grade, we will issue a transcript. It is up to your home school to assign credit for the class. If you have any questions about your school accepting credit, we recommend that you speak with your child’s guidance counselor and department head prior to registering for the class. Syllabi are available online in the class details or you can contact the office for a copy.
Q: Who teaches your programs?
A: Some of our instructors are Minuteman High School staff. Many of our instructors have taught in our Summer Programs for years. All teachers for academic classes are licensed teachers in that subject area in the state of Massachusetts. Our teachers and instructors are all adults with teaching experience.
